What if my chain breaks?

Uberkate will replace chains if the chain has failed within two weeks of purchase. If a chain is snapped somewhere in the chain and not at the attachment end near the clasp (where it is designed to break when pulled excessively hard) our jewellers will review the chain before deciding whether to replace.

What bangle size am I?

Some of our bangles are made to order so please provide us your size in the comments section during ordering. One way to work out your size is to measure the diameter of an existing bangle. Another is to point your fingers and squish them together then wrap string or cord around your knuckles at the widest point. Imagine the widest point at which a bangle needs to get past. Then measure the cord on a ruler. A medium bangle is usually around 65mm.

QUESTIONS ABOUT OUR GEMSTONE JEWELLERY

Is my gemstone real?

YES we only work with natural raw crystal and stone that we cut into gemstones.

Where do the gemstones come from?

The short answer is - from all over the world. Kate travels the globe sourcing our beauties, we currently stock gems from;

Rose quartz (Brazil)

Smoky quartz (Brazil)

Lapis (Afghanistan)

Aqua (India)

Morganite (Brazil)

London BT Natural Quartz (Brazil)

Black agate (India)

Green Amethyst Quartz (Russia)

Citrine Quartz (Russia)

Why is my ring set differently to my other ring or my friend's ring?

We are a bespoke jewellery studio. We cut gemstones into our own designs and as they are hand cut they often have slight variations and we set them according to this. Eg we may cut a round of London Blue Topaz and the gem is slightly heavier so we may choose to set in a lower profile setting. The variations are only ever slight, but this means you will always have a one-off ring, pendant or set of earrings. We value craftsmanship and endeavour to never mass produce anything.

How can you cut such large gemstones for such great value?

We start at the source and find our gems in the rough. They are cut by our teams of master gemstone cutters and we only buy gems to cut within our price points. Our goal is for everywoman to be able to afford to #BuyYourOwnDamnRing

Is a crystal and a gemstone the same thing?

A crystal becomes a gemstone when care and time has been invested to cut and facet it into a gemstone! So a crystal can become a gemstone, but a crystal in it’s raw form will always be a crystal!

What is heat treating?

Heat treatment is most commonly used to alter the colour of a stone, but is also used to increase clarity and intensity of the colour.

Heating a gemstone to a high temperature is used to either lighten, darken or alter the colour of a gem. For example our Green Amethyst started its life as a purple amethyst and our Mint Champagne also started its life as a purple amethyst. Heat treating gemstones has been used for thousands and years to enhance the beauty of a stone. Stones were often put into the fire to increase clarity before being sold in the olden days.

We will always tell you what has been done to create your beautiful gems.

Are the properties the same in a gemstone after it has been heat treated?

When heat treating occurs the molecular structure of the stone will be affected to a small degree. The essence of nature and the natural energy of the ring is still there, but it will have been affected and changed its structure slightly.

The power of a gemstone is enhanced by the intent of the wearer. Cleanse your rings under a full moon to charge them up full of energy!
